Lodging and Transportation
I love looking for the perfect spot! Balancing atmosphere, comfort, and sense of place.
Lodging will be comfortable, mid-range hotels and guesthouses. When possible, we will book in walkable areas and book with locally owned and operated businesses.
Breakfast will be provided, and there will be options for vegetarians and vegans and those who are gluten-free.
If there isn't a breakfast option where we are staying, breakfast will be provided otherwise.
Rooms will have private bathrooms, AC, wifi, and will have a bed for each person on your itinerary (or a comfy sleeper sofa if this works for your family).
Efforts will be made to meet your needs for family rooms, two adjoining rooms, etc.
The specific lodging choices will depend on our group size and composition. I'll let you know ahead of time our plan.
TransportationThere will be a variety of transportation options used on this trip. From local train (Toledo to Madrid) to high-speed train (Madrid to Seville), private transport bus (Cordoba to Grenada) and a domestic flight on Iberia or similar (Grenada to Toledo). All of this will be covered and booked ahead of time, which is one of the reasons advanced bookings are necessary.
Pricing and costs
Pricing for families is tough! But when we stay together and share rooms, costs are reduced. Costs are often lower for children (below 14 years old in Spain). I have calculated how much it would cost for a family sharing a room. If you would like to have 2 rooms, or your family configuration isn't here, please let me know.Special pricing for children under 6 yo. Adults are anyone 14 years old and up. Some lodging includes kids sleeping on sofa beds, but there are always private bathrooms, wifi, and AC.In the chart below, options are 2 adults (2A), 1 adult and 1 child under 14 (1A & 1C), 1 adult with 2 children under 14 (1A & 2C) and 2 adults and 2 children under 14 (2A&2C). If you have multiple children 14 or over please reach out to determine a family discount. These prices are PER FAMILY and not per person and do not include the exclusions above (international flights to Spain, etc). The goals is to keep this trip below $100 / per person / per day for all lodging, breakfast, activities and domestic transportation.A $500 deposit per family will hold your spot, with the balance due before 120 days of the start date. You can see cancellation policies in the FAQ's and Policies below.

____________________________What isn't included? What expenses should I expect? You'll want to plan for your international flights to Madrid, meals and snacks other than breakfast (food can be cheap in Spain!), activities that aren't on our itinerary and the transport to get there, souvenirs, travel insurance, and other incidentals.
____________________________Is the host an expert in the Spanish Inquisition or Spain?Nope! I'll be learning along side you. I will carefully plan the trip to include many experts and locations that will engage your family, but I am not the expert.
____________________________What is your cancellation and refund policy? It's difficult to plan a trip and book trains, planes, and lodging if folks cancel, and at the same time, I understand that life happens. It is strongly suggested that you have travel insurance to cover unseen circumstances that may interrupt your trip. You can hold your family's place with a $500 deposit. The full balance for your family is due 120 days before the trip. You can cancel with a full refund (less a $100 administrative fee) 120 days before the trip or receive a 100% credit on your deposit for future trips. At least 60 days before the trip you can cancel with a 50% fee OR receive a full credit for future trips. Between 59 days and the start of the trip you can cancel with a 30% refund or a 75% credit for a future trip.
